Admire the Swiss Riviera from Mont Pelerin Plein Ciel

The Swiss Riviera is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Switzerland. To admire the entire place you can take a boat trip on Lake Geneva (or Lake Leman how it is called by the Swiss) or go somewhere up the mountins. Being a sunny day I choosed to take a trip to Mont Pelerin Plein Ciel and go up the Swiscomm Tower. Thus I got a spectacular view of the entire Swiss Riviera area. The tower is not really well known, so there are no crowds.

The Tower Plein Ciel is 123m high and is on the summit of Mont Pelerin at 1084m.  The panoramic glass elevator will take you up 63m to enjoy the wonderful panorama of the Swiss Riviera and of the Jura mountins and the Alps.

The view from up above is really breathtaking.

To reach this tower there are many options:

- take the funiculaire Vevey to Mont Pelerin and then by foot or bike
- by foot from Vevey (it will take around 3 hours)
- with the bike (the roads are very good, but you must be a good biker)
- or with the car (follow the Plein Ciel road signs from Vevey). It is a 10 minutes ride. If you came by car there is a large parking area and from there you will walk around 30 minutes to the tower. In the parking there is a sign that says if the tower is open or not: green is open, read is closed.

The walk will give you the chance to admire the landscape from different perspectives. There are plenty of benches along the way so you can rest and enjoy the view.

So, after a lovely walk you will reach the entry gate of the tower. Enter and go to the left, where the tower is. The entry is 5 CHF for adults, and 3 CHF for kids. You will pay at a ticket machine that accepts only coins and does not give back change. So be sure to have the right ammount. There is also a change machine, but only for bills of 10 or 20 CHF.

After you pay, go to the glass elevator that will take you up on the platform. It is a 10x10m iron place from where you will be able to see the spectacular panorama.

Here is the short movie that I have done during my trip to Mont Pelerin Plein Ciel. Enjoy!
