Today I will start a series of articles about cooking. There will be no old and famous recipes for Swiss food but rather food inspired by the Swiss lifestyle. And what food do the Swiss people love? It's simple; something on the grill! So, we will start the series of Swiss recipes with: salad with grilled vegetables.

Swiss recipes - Salad with grilled vegetables


It is a light and easy to cook warm salad. For two persons we need:
  • 200 grams of mushrooms, 
  • 5-6 asparagus,
  • 1 carrot,
  • 1 pepper,
  • olive oil,
  • cheese that can be placed on the grill (halloumi type), 
  • salt and pepper, a little lemon juice. 
And for plating some lettuce leaves and a piece of apio (celery tails).

How is the salad with warm vegetables made?

Cut the vegetables into medium strips and season them with salt and pepper. Leave them for a few minutes in order to mix all the flavors. Then we put the vegetables on the grill until they are cooked. Next to them, on the grill, we cook the cheese. And that's all. When everything is done, we take them out into a ball and cover it in order to soften the vegetables. All the grilling process should last around 10-15 minutes.

Plating the swiss style warm salad

In order to do the plating for the salad: put the lettuce leaves and apio, that will give a crispy touch, on the plate. Then we put the vegetables and arrange them to be a very colorful plate. Sprinkle on them a drop of olive oil and lemon juice. And then, put the grilled cheese on top. Serve the salad while it is warm. It will be a delight accompanied by a glass of white Swiss wine!
