How you can enjoy an incredible day in Switzerland
One thing is for sure: Switzerland has the most beautiful views I have ever seen. During the Easter Holiday I took a short Swiss hike in the moutains and I will let you know how you can also enjoy these magic places. In this article you will find out about a easy and beautiful walking route in Swiss Apls and, at the end, you can enjoy the movie that I have made during this trip.
Our hike took about 4 hours, with a 30 minutes break and took place in one of the most beautiful area: Les Avants, on top of the Swiss Riviera. Les Avants is a small Swiss village, with around 300 inhabitants and it is situated at 1000 meters altitude. It is especially recommended to come here in May-June because the mountains are covered with Narcisses ( Daffodils). The locals call this "May's Snow". You can see here some great pictures with the Daffodils from Les Avants. For sure I will go back in May to see the flowers.
To arrive in Les Avants is easy: either by car following the road signs or by train. Take the GoldenPass Panoramic railway from Chateau d'Oex to Zweisimmen and get off at Les Avants. You have here more information about how to get to Les Avants.
Either you came by car or by train you will arrive in the middle of the village. For the cars there is a rather large and free parking there. From here you can start different walking trails. We choosed "Chemin des Narcisses" (Daffodil's Road) and it was one of the best Swiss hikes for us. We strated walking up the mountins following the yellow signs for our road. The landscape is amazing. You will see traditional Swiss cottages, green grass, massive trees and the majestic Alps with snow on their peaks. After 1 hour of walking you will arrive at the Funiculaire station of Sonloup. (If you want you can just take the Funi from Les Avants to Sonloup, but you will miss the nature).
From there on the road is through the forest. It is easy to walk and the road is well marked. After another hour you will arrive at Cubly belvedere. Here is where all the magic happens because this point is just above the Swiss Riviera at offers great view at the entire area. If it is a sunny day you can see like 30km away untill Lausanne. It is really a super view that you must see if you arrive in Switzerland.
In Cubly Belvedere there is also a small eating area with 4 large wood tables and chairs. You can enjoy a few hours here admiring the view. There is also a car road just about close to this place, so people can come with drinks, food, chairs, etc.
From Cubly you start your decend following the sign to Montreux (1.5 hours) or Les Avants (45 minutes). You will walk through the forest on some wood steps, then to a road and then through the forest again. It is a realy beautiful decent. For me this was one of the best hikes in Switzerland.
Depending on your way of walking this trip might take 3-4 hours, adding a stop at Cubly. Take some water and fruits with you, because there are very few areas on the road where you can have water.
