Admire the Swiss Riviera from Mont Pelerin Plein Ciel

Image
The Swiss Riviera is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Switzerland . To admire the entire place you can take a boat trip on Lake Geneva (or Lake Leman how it is called by the Swiss) or go somewhere up the mountins. Being a sunny day I choosed to take a trip to Mont Pelerin Plein Ciel and go up the Swiscomm Tower. Thus I got a spectacular view of the entire Swiss Riviera area. The tower is not really well known, so there are no crowds. The Tower Plein Ciel is 123m high and is on the summit of Mont Pelerin at 1084m.  The panoramic glass elevator will take you up 63m to enjoy the wonderful panorama of the Swiss Riviera and of the Jura mountins and the Alps. The view from up above is really breathtaking. Geneva Lake seen from Mont Pelerin Plein Ciel To reach this tower there are many options: - take the funiculaire Vevey to Mont Pelerin and then by foot or bike - by foot from Vevey (it will take around 3 hours) - with the bike (the roads are very good, bu...

How you can enjoy an incredible day in Switzerland

Image
One thing is for sure: Switzerland has the most beautiful views I have ever seen . During the Easter Holiday I took a short Swiss hike  in the moutains and I will let you know how you can also enjoy these magic places. In this article you will find out about a easy and beautiful walking route in Swiss Apls and, at the end, you can enjoy the movie that I have made during this trip. A Swiss cottage Our hike took about 4 hours, with a 30 minutes break and took place in one of the most beautiful area: Les Avants , on top of the Swiss Riviera . Les Avants is a small Swiss village, with around 300 inhabitants and it is situated at 1000 meters altitude. It is especially recommended to come here in May-June because the mountains are covered with Narcisses ( Daffodils). The locals call this "May's Snow". You can see here some great pictures with the Daffodils  from Les Avants. For sure I will go back in May to see the flowers. To arrive in Les Avants is easy: either by...

Top things to do in a spring day in Vevey

Image
Spring has come in the beautiful city of Vevey situated on the shores of Lake Geneva. So what one can do to kill time in a lazy Saturday or Sunday? Here are my suggestions. First sit back and enjoy the breathtaking landscape of Lake Geneva and the Alps . In Switzerland you feel like living in a postal card, and this is so true here, in Vevey. Just admire the mountains, the lake, the trees, the flowers. Then, do a Magnolia hunt !! Along the shore path and in the city there are plenty of Magnolia trees so just go an look for them. In this time period they are all covered with flowers: white, yellow and especially pink. A Magnolia tree full of flowers is a wonder of the nature. Walk along Lake Geneva . From Place du Marche (Town Square) you can either take it to the right, pass by the carousel or to the left, towards Montreux. Either way, you will enjoy beautiful sights and feel relaxed. In the small Place du Marche port you can feed the swans and all the othe...

Villeneuve, a lovely city on the shore of Lake Geneva

Image
Villeneuve, in the canton of Vaud, is a small city located at the utmost eastern shore of Lake Geneva . It is a very historic place created by Thomas I (1178 - 1233) Count of Savoy under the name of "Ville Neuve de Chillon" (New City of Chillon). This is because the place is very close to the more famous Chillon Castle that was the residence of the Savoy family. It has a lovely Old City area where you will find a lot of restaurants and a diversity of small shops. A must see is the Old Church of the City (Eglise de Villeneuve) that dates back from the 13th Century and looks great because it has been restaured in the mid 1900s. You will feel very relaxed here while walking on the main street of the Old City of Villeneuve (Grand Rue) or near Lake Geneve. For leisure activities the city has a small port, a big swimming pool area with view to Lake Geneva, a large public beach on the same lake. You will find them side by side under the name of "La Plage" (The Beach...
