Top things to do in a spring day in Vevey

Spring has come in the beautiful city of Vevey situated on the shores of Lake Geneva. So what one can do to kill time in a lazy Saturday or Sunday? Here are my suggestions.

First sit back and enjoy the breathtaking landscape of Lake Geneva and the Alps. In Switzerland you feel like living in a postal card, and this is so true here, in Vevey. Just admire the mountains, the lake, the trees, the flowers.

Then, do a Magnolia hunt!! Along the shore path and in the city there are plenty of Magnolia trees so just go an look for them. In this time period they are all covered with flowers: white, yellow and especially pink. A Magnolia tree full of flowers is a wonder of the nature.

Walk along Lake Geneva. From Place du Marche (Town Square) you can either take it to the right, pass by the carousel or to the left, towards Montreux. Either way, you will enjoy beautiful sights and feel relaxed. In the small Place du Marche port you can feed the swans and all the other birds. Don't forget to take a picture of Charlie Chaplin's statue along your walk.

After a good walk, stop for a bite or a drink at one of the restaurants and bars along the way. You will find wonderful places in Place du Marche (like Le Charlot or Hostellerie de Geneve) or along the lake (the renouned Charlie's).

After eating, doctors recommend some body movement, so just go to Vevey's Old City. It is lovely! Full of little shops, bars, restaurants, beauty places. Just walk along the small streets and enjoy the colors of the houses.

Visit Alimentarium, the world's first-ever food-themed museum. Located in a 1920's style castle, it is the home of a very interactive museum dedicated to the food we eat and love. See ancient tools used to prepare food, use the large screen to see how food travels around the world, understand the importance of packaging, discover how our body uses the food. And don't forget to take a picture or a selfie with the world's biggest fork that is just in front of the musem, in Lake Geneva! See here more info about Alimentarium!

Want to see as many things as possible? Then rent a bike in Vevey! Use Velospot locations, they are in diffent key points of the city. Velospot locations in Vevey.

Last, but not least, enjoy the sunset! Look at the sun at it goes to bed over the lake, the boats and the city!

PS: keep in mind that the majority of shops and restaurants are closing from 17.00 on Saturdays and are closed all day Sunday. The names above are open.
