Image
Located in the south of Switzerland, close to the city of Gstaad, in the Diablerets mountains, Glacier 3000 is one of the country’s main attraction. It is the home of the Peak Walk by Tissot, the Alpine Coaster and the Ice Express Chairlift. All these overlook the outstanding Scex Rouge Peak. To find out more read the article bellow and enjoy our video at the end of it. Peak Walk by Tissot at Glacier3000 To go to the Peak Walk by Tissot , you have two options:   Walk to the peak. But it is a rather difficult and long walk because you will have to reach the height of 2966m. So, you really have to be in a good physical shape. By cable car. You can take the cable car from Col du Pillon (1546 m) and reach Scex Rouge (2950 m) terminus point. The cable car station is just at the main road so it is easy to reach it. The ride to the peak has one intermediary station where you will change the cable car. Glacier 3000 cable car station at Col du Pillon   ...

Admire the Swiss Riviera from Mont Pelerin Plein Ciel

Image
The Swiss Riviera is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Switzerland . To admire the entire place you can take a boat trip on Lake Geneva (or Lake Leman how it is called by the Swiss) or go somewhere up the mountins. Being a sunny day I choosed to take a trip to Mont Pelerin Plein Ciel and go up the Swiscomm Tower. Thus I got a spectacular view of the entire Swiss Riviera area. The tower is not really well known, so there are no crowds. The Tower Plein Ciel is 123m high and is on the summit of Mont Pelerin at 1084m.  The panoramic glass elevator will take you up 63m to enjoy the wonderful panorama of the Swiss Riviera and of the Jura mountins and the Alps. The view from up above is really breathtaking. Geneva Lake seen from Mont Pelerin Plein Ciel To reach this tower there are many options: - take the funiculaire Vevey to Mont Pelerin and then by foot or bike - by foot from Vevey (it will take around 3 hours) - with the bike (the roads are very good, bu...

A must do in Switzerland - a Funiculaire trip

Image
You are looking for places to visit in Switzerland ? Here's an idea: go for a Funiculaire trip ! Due to the fact that there are mountains everywhere, the Swiss use a lot a transportation system called "Funiculaire". It's an electrical carriage that goes up the mountain. Usually the ticket is valid for 2 hours, so you can still do a short trip around the station and enjoy the breath-taking view of the mountins, the lakes, walk around the forest, breath the clean air, have a coffee or eat something. Here's  a short movie of one of my trips with the Vevey - Mont Pelerin Funiculaire. The ride is 15 minutes long and you go over highways, Lavaux Vineyards , beautiful houses. In Mont Pelerin you can go to the Mirador Hotel and have a coffee on the terrace and then just walk around and enjoy the views. If you are in a good physical shape go to Mont Pelerin Plein Ciel - the highest point is at 1081m. The price for a ticket is 5.2 CHF and it's valid for 2 ho...

Top things to do in a spring day in Vevey

Image
Spring has come in the beautiful city of Vevey situated on the shores of Lake Geneva. So what one can do to kill time in a lazy Saturday or Sunday? Here are my suggestions. First sit back and enjoy the breathtaking landscape of Lake Geneva and the Alps . In Switzerland you feel like living in a postal card, and this is so true here, in Vevey. Just admire the mountains, the lake, the trees, the flowers. Then, do a Magnolia hunt !! Along the shore path and in the city there are plenty of Magnolia trees so just go an look for them. In this time period they are all covered with flowers: white, yellow and especially pink. A Magnolia tree full of flowers is a wonder of the nature. Walk along Lake Geneva . From Place du Marche (Town Square) you can either take it to the right, pass by the carousel or to the left, towards Montreux. Either way, you will enjoy beautiful sights and feel relaxed. In the small Place du Marche port you can feed the swans and all the othe...
