Bern is a must-see city in Switzerland. Not only because it is the capital-city, but also because it is one of the most wonderful places to visit in Switzerland. Here is my list of 5 things to do in Bern! The order is not mandatory, but the visit to Bern is!! Read the article and at the end you will also discover a movie with Bern's most beautiful places. 1. Enjoy the views from the Bern's bridges The river Aare passes through Bern. In ancient times the city did not pass the river, but in the last 200 years several bridges have been built over the river thus letting the town to grow. But they offer stunning views of the city. So, for exemple, go to the bridge that is near the casino. You will see the entrance intro Bern Old City, the House of Parliament, Bern Munster Cathedral. One thing is for sure: Switzerland has the most beautiful views I have ever seen . During the Easter Holiday I took a short Swiss hike  in the moutains and I will let you know how you can also enjoy these magic places. A Swiss cottage Our hike took about 4 hours, with a 30 minutes break and took place in one of the most beautiful area: Les Avants , on top of the Swiss Riviera . Les Avants is a small Swiss village, with around 300 inhabitants and it is situated at 1000 meters altitude. It is especially recommended to come here in May-June because the mountains are covered with Narcisses ( Daffodils). The locals call this "May's Snow". You are looking for places to visit in Switzerland ? Here's an idea: go for a Funiculaire trip ! Due to the fact that there are mountains everywhere, the Swiss use a lot a transportation system called "Funiculaire". It's an electrical carriage that goes up the mountain. Usually the ticket is valid for 2 hours, so you can still do a short trip around the station and enjoy the breath-taking view of the mountins, the lakes, walk around the forest, breath the clean air, have a coffee or eat something. Here's  a short movie of one of my trips with the Vevey - Mont Pelerin Funiculaire. The ride is 15 minutes long and you go over highways, Lavaux Vineyards , beautiful houses. In Mont Pelerin you can go to the Mirador Hotel and have a coffee on the terrace and then just walk around and enjoy the views. Spring has come in the beautiful city of Vevey situated on the shores of Lake Geneva. So what one can do to kill time in a lazy Saturday or Sunday? Here are my suggestions. First sit back and enjoy the breathtaking landscape of Lake Geneva and the Alps . In Switzerland you feel like living in a postal card, and this is so true here, in Vevey. Just admire the mountains, the lake, the trees, the flowers. Then, do a Magnolia hunt !! Along the shore path and in the city there are plenty of Magnolia trees so just go an look for them. In this time period they are all covered with flowers: white, yellow and especially pink. A Magnolia tree full of flowers is a wonder of the nature. Walk along Lake Geneva .
